We believe in betterment, and having a good time while working towards it.

This.us.now. was formed to meet the learning and development needs of individuals, businesses and non-profits who want to work with better information and more joy. Everyone and everything has the ability to evolve – knowledge, processes, relationships, teams – and we are excited to help you get where you want to be.

We are a team of three women with 50+ years of combined work experience. Before meeting at a nation-wide education company, we each worked in a variety of industries -- from project management to law, event planning to field organizing, community outreach to finance.

As experts in data and play, we are experienced in breaking down complex information into understandable concepts and accessible practices to implement change. Play (low-stakes, engaging, lighthearted activity) is our method for training, it enables us to make big topics more approachable, impactful, and memorable.

We use our wide breadth of skills and industry knowledge to build effective, happy, & productive workplaces.  Our trainings & consulting focus on:

  • Company Culture and Building Psychologically Safe Work Environments

  • Employee Engagement and Company Celebrations

  • Professional Learning and Development

  • People Operations and Alignment

  • HR Analytics

  • Experiential Design For Events & Initiatives

Driven by a dedication to understanding and an unending belief in human betterment, Maddy envisions a more empowering, engaging, and compassionate world. Maddy's truly terrible at sports- if her life depended on hitting a ball with some kind of stick or bat or club, she would be in BIG trouble.

Diana Hickey
Chief Development Officer

Diana is a believer of strength-based and whole-hearted living. She is driven by her awareness that others work best when given the tools that allow their strengths to be seen. Her leadership comes from her inherent empathy and her ability to guide others with clear and compassionate focus. For 20+ years she has dedicated her work to managing teams and organizations that do good for others. From street outreach work in her hometown, Oakland, CA, to STEM Education across multiple states, Diana has worked hands-on with diverse and cross cultural communities. She gives her time to improve the life journeys of others and loves being a part of the progress of these efforts.

Stats:

  • Odd job once held: Community Health and Sexual Wellness Education Outreach Team

  • Education & Certifications:

    • B.A. Organizational Leadership/Liberal Studies, California State University, East Bay

  • Fun Facts: Diana grew up in East Oakland, and she never misses an opportunity to mention this; in fact, a large part of her wardrobe reps the city proudly. As a child, she imagined she would grow up to either be a rock climber or figure skater. She could often be found at the top of a door jam, squeezing herself flat like a spider with a chalk bag in tow, or in roller skates doing tricks to Whitney Houston's self titled 1985 album. Having a fond relationship with food, she is always snacking and is usually the one eating an elaborately crafted meal on a video call. Also, her love for soup runs deep.

Lauren Yee
Chief Operations Officer

Lauren is a natural cultivator of community and a process-driven problem solver, who has been managing people, projects, and clients since 2005. A Californian from the beginning, she has lived and worked in a number of places around the large state and currently resides in Oakland. Finding and creating tangible ways to help individuals, improve ideas, and streamline processes and events is what energizes her. She believes that consistency and connections are the greatest drivers of great things.

Stats:

  • Odd job once held: Fire Risk Assessment Intern

  • Education & Certifications:

    • B.A. in Design & minor in Psychology, University of California, Davis

    • Preventing Workplace Harassment certification, Emtrain

  • Fun Facts: Lauren was both a member and leader of her University's Polynesian Club where they learned about culture, choreographed dances, made costumes, and put on an annual luau (food and everything). She loves creating with her hands... cooking, crafts, playing piano, painting, you name it! She enjoys movies, but doesn't always get around to seeing them. She has seen very few "classics", and asking her to name the different superheroes in Avengers End Game is probably a lost cause.
